Los Alamos County Tourism Implementation Task Force Deadline To Submit Application Extended To Tuesday Sept.1

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Council is still seeking members for the Tourism Implementation Task Force.

The deadline for letters of interest has been extended to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The Council recently reauthorized the Tourism Implementation Task Force and renewed its charter through April 2022. The Task Force, initially formed in 2018, provides guidance and expertise to the Council and County staff on tourism implementation issues.

The Task Force also serves a valuable role in communicating project progress with the general public and County Council. The task force is comprised of eleven members including a representative from each of the following Boards: Parks and Recreation; Transportation; Historic Preservation; and Lodgers’ Tax.

All current members of the Task Force have been asked and encouraged to apply for reappointment.  Volunteers can be from the community-at-large, a business, or an organization, and will join County staff and others representing amenities, assets and attractions, lodging/hotels, history, the National Park Service and San Ildefonso Pueblo.

Members will be appointed by Council and this item is tentatively set for consideration at 6 p.m. at the Sept. 8 Council meeting. Applicants do not need to be present at the meeting to be considered.

Applicants should submit a one or two-page letter of interest with name, address, phone number and e-mail address, name of employer (if applicable), any civic organizations or relevant tourism or economic development background, an explanation of “why I would like to serve on the Task Force”, and comment on strengths and expertise in contributing to the accomplishment of the tasks outlined in the Task Force’s defined charter (available online at www.losalamosnm.us under Government/Projects/Economic Development Projects).

The Task Force meets monthly (currently scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month at Noon) and members may be asked to complete assignments outside of meetings.

Applications can be emailed to lacmanager@lacnm.us.
