Founded in 1978 by Joan and Mel Duran, and operating at the current location for 10 years, De Colores is the longest running restaurant in Los Alamos.
The restaurant was packed during the lunch hour Wednesday and is a popular dining spot for those who live and work in Los Alamos.
Joan Duran told the Los Alamos Daily Post that she is concerned about rumors that continue to circulate about her restaurant closing its doors.
“Nothing could be further from the truth,” she said. “This month, we are celebrating our 34th anniversary and we’re looking forward to celebrating many more.”
Fresh menu items, live music and community events are part of the restaurant’s weekly offerings.
De Colores at the Gate, 2470 East Road, is open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., and the Cantina opens at 3:30 p.m,. Monday through Friday.
