DALA News:
Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) will kick off its 2012-2013 year with the Dancer’s Resale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the White Rock Studios at 111 Longview Dr. in White Rock.
An Open House will be held noon to 4 p.m. for families new to DALA, or anyone who has questions about classes or needs assistance with the registration process.
DALA has expanded its class offerings again this year and is offering more than 45 classes at its three studios located in both Los Alamos and White Rock.
DALA is pleased to add Melissa Briggs to the faculty who will be teaching ballet, modern and yoga.
Briggs is currently on faculty at the University of New Mexico, the National Dance Institute of New Mexico (School for the Performing Arts), The School of Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, and Little Earth School.
Katie Hopkins will also be joining the faculty this fall, providing instruction in modern and Pilates®. Hopkins currently dances with the acclaimed ARCOS Dance of Santa Fe and is invested in maintaining a high level of physicality and authenticity with movement through performance, teaching, dancemaking and improvisation.

The DALA class schedule includes an expanded ballet program of all levels of ballet technique along with pointe, variations and contemporary ballet for advanced dancers.
This year the schedule also offers a full range of classes for adult students with instruction in jazz, ballet, tap, modern, hip hop, Pilates®, yoga, Cardio Flex and musical theater.
The Early Childhood program has also been expanded to offer Tumbledance, a unique blend of basic tumbling skills and dance technique, hip hop, creative movement, pre-ballet and tap.
Registration for classes is on-going; the fall session classes begin Sept. 4.
Dance Arts Los Alamos is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote dance in Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico by providing safe professional training and quality performances.
