DALA Summer Dance Program Registration Now Open

DALA News:

Whether dancing for fun, exercise, or the enrichment of a new ability, Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) has it covered this summer.

DALA is back in the studio offering in-person classes and programs for dancers with beginning to advanced skill sets. They are looking forward to getting their DALA Family back to dancing, moving, and sweating after a year remaining at home behind Zoom screens.

STORYBallet:

DALA created this program for its younger dancers to learn the great art of expression and storytelling through movement. Dancers will have the opportunity to attend Pre-Ballet, Dance Exploration, Lyrical Jazz and Tap classes with a qualified instructor. This is an opportunity for little ones to get moving and make some new friends in the process: 

Schedule:

  • 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. July 5-10 – Ages 4-6 : $75 *White Rock A Studio
    Tue/Thurs/Sat – Pre-Ballet, Lyrical, and Tap
    (Pre-Ballet will have a Demonstration Saturday during this program) 
  • July 19-30 *White Rock A Studio
    10-10:45 a.m. Tue/Thurs for two weeks – Dance Exploration Ages 3-5 : $45
    11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tue/Thurs/Fri for two weeks – Pre-Ballet Ages 5-7: $60 (Pre-Ballet will have a Demonstration Fridays during this program) 
  • 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. July 12-17 – Ages 7-9: $75 *White Rock A Studio
    Tue/Thurs/Sat – Pre-Ballet, Lyrical, and Tap

    (Pre-Ballet will have a Demonstration on Saturday during this program) 
  • 12:30-1:45 p.m. July 19-30 – Ages 7-9 : $60 *White Rock A Studio
    Tue/Thurs/Fri for two weeks – Ballet 1

    (Ballet will have a Demonstration Fridays during this program)

ASPIRATIONS:

This is a brand new program offered by DALA. Aspirations is designed to help beginning and intermediate dancers the opportunity to get ahead in dance for Fall 2021. Whether never having danced before, or coming back to dance after taking a COVID-break, this is a great program to start with and try out multiple genres of dance while working on a strong and healthy technical base. 

  • July 12-16 – Ages 7-9 $125 *White Rock A Studio

  • July 26-30 – Ages 11+ $185 *White Rock A Studio
    12:15-3:35 p.m. Mon/Wed/Fri, Tues/Thurs 2:15-5:30 p.m.

LIFEMOVES:

$25/class or $100 for all classes. 

This program offers one evening class 5:15-6:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Another brand new program from DALA created for dancers that want to try a little bit of everything on a more relaxed schedule. This program offers one (1) class per evening Monday through Friday. This program was especially made for performers that want to boost their coordination and knowledge skills for Theatre, Cheer, Athletics, and overall health. 

  • June 14-18 – Ages 10-14

    Tuesday: Rhythm Tap
    Wednesday: Street Dance
    Thursday: Flamenco

    Friday: Modern Dance

DALA Summer Dance Intensive:

The Summer Dance Intensive is DALA’s annual intensive for dancers who have experience dancing regularly. Their Guest Artist this Summer is Fred Davis from Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York – don’t miss the chance to take class from this awesome visiting instructor. This program will strengthen dancers with multiple genres offered, stamina exercises, and artistic challenges to expand creative leadership skills. 

June 7-26

*PLEASE NOTE: Level should coincide with Ballet Level as of Spring 2021. Consult Jonathan with questions concerning levels at jonathan@danceartslosalamos.org 

  • Level 2 (age 9-13)– Classes will be conducted at the $260/1 week White Rock Studios from 12:15-4 p.m. Mon-Fri $455/2 weeks and 12:15-3 p.m. Sat. $650/3 weeks
    *The program will consist of Ballet, Tap, Pre-Pointe, Modern, Flamenco, Jazz, Hip Hop, Choreography, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, and Swing.
  • Level 3- Classes will be conducted at the $280/1 week White Rock Studios from 12:15-4:30 p.m. Mon-Fri $490/2 weeks and 12:15-3:30 p.m. Sat. $700/3 weeks
    *The program will consist of Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Hip Hop, Flamenco, Choreography, Variations, Musical Theatre, Tap and Contemporary.
  • Level 4/5- Classes will be conducted at $300/1 week Trinity on The Hill Studio from 12:15-5 p.m. $525/2 weeks Mon-Fri and 12:15-3:30 p.m. Sat. $750/3 weeks
    *The program will include Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Hip Hop, Stretch/Strength, Flamenco, Modern, Variations, Repertoire, Dance Photo/Marketing, Latin Fusion, and Musical Theatre.

  • Adult Tap – Ages 18+
    6:45-7:45 p.m. Mondays at Trinity on The Hill
    *PLEASE NOTE: Location will change to White Rock Studios for July and August.
  • Adult Flamenco/Spanish – Ages 18+
    6:45-8 p.m. Tuesdays in White Rock Studios
  • Adult Ballet – Ages 18+
    7:15-8:15 p.m. Thursdays at Trinity on The Hill

Dance Arts Los Alamos is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization that has been operating in Los Alamos County since 1995. DALA is dedicated to promoting dance in Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico by providing safe, professional instruction and quality performances. DALA offers approximately 75-80 dance classes per week with an average of 5-12 students in each class. Ages range 2 years old to adult. 

Dance Arts Los Alamos also is home to Nutcracker on “The Hill”, a historical performance based on the community and splendid history of Los Alamos.
