Daily Postcard: Early morning virga over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains as viewed Sunday from Los Alamos. Virga is a meteorological phenomenon where rain or snow falls from a cloud but evaporates or sublimates before reaching the ground, appearing as wispy streaks or shafts hanging from the cloud base. Common in dry, high-altitude regions, it occurs when precipitation falls into a layer of dry, warm air. Photo by Bob Reedy
