Daily Postcard: A doe and buck and their fawns gather around a St. Francis of Assisi statute Tuesday morning in the yard of a residence on Camino Encantado. St. Francis is the patron saint of animals and ecology. He was born in Italy around 1181 and after a colorful youth and brief career as a soldier, he had a conversion experience that inspired him to renounce his family’s wealth and devote his life to God.
