Daily Postcard: Ron Lucero displays his Easter faith at the statue of St. Mary on the grounds of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 3700 Canyon Road in Los Alamos. He explained that her wood carved face reminds him of his own mother and grandmother. Lucero lives on a 5,000-acre ranch in Villanueva in San Miguel County, a town that according to the 2010 census has just 234 people. Lucero said that each time he visits Los Alamos, he stops to see the statue, visit the Chapel of Divine Mercy and attend Mass at IHM. ‘The gates of Heaven are a little harder to get into … but the gates to Hell are wide open,’ Lucero said.
