Daily Postcard: A bobcat lays in a shaded area and stares at the camera Tuesday in Bandelier National Monument. Named for their short “bobbed” tail, bobcats can weigh up to 40 lbs. They primarily eat rodents, rabbits and birds … but they will also scavenge on the kills of mountain lions. They are found throughout Bandelier. Bobcats are most active at dawn and dusk, so you may not see them on your visit. Keep an eye out, however, for other signs like their prints and scat. Phot by Sally King/NPS
