C’YA Offers Ways To Serve Our Veterans This MLK Day

C’YA News:

The birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is often a day of service. Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA) offers you an opportunity to serve, 1-2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19.

The White Rock Branch Library will provide a space for a come-and-go event sponsored by C’YA. This year, they hope community members of all ages will make Valentine cards for local and regional Veterans or thank you cards for local military members serving across the nation.

C’YA will offer a variety of opportunities for residents to thank our current and former troops as the USA celebrates its 250th birthday in July. Items can also be created at home, school or work settings and dropped off during this time.

“C’YA will have paper for art, cards, stickers, markers, crayons and colored pencils to help the creativity flow,” C’YA Executive Director Bernadette Lauritzen said. “Children and the young at heart can come doodle, write a note of thanks, and share the love. It’s amazing how appreciative people and organizations are to receive even the simplest thank you.”

If your club, organization, or workplace would like to request a pick-up, simply call or email to schedule a time. All items are needed by Feb. 2, as some care packages for those currently serving need to be postmarked as soon as possible. Rumor has it that you can even create a card for local postal carriers, as the USPS also celebrates 250 years in 2026.

To contact C’YA, call 505.695.9139, email cya.org@att.net, visit www.cya-nm.org or Facebook at Champions of Youth Ambitions.
