C’YA Celebrates National Hug Day Today At Smith’s

C’YA News:

Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA) is celebrating National Hug Day today, Jan. 21 at Los Alamos Smith’s Marketplace. “Take A Second, Make A Difference” is C’YA’s motto and the organization is showing lots of ways to give and receive 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

C’YA make chocolate Hershey Hugs available at the event today, hoping to sweeten the pot by providing many ways to show some love to others throughout the community, nation and world.

C’YA has been part of the, “A Million Thanks” program for many years. The local nonprofit can be found at www.amillionthanks.org. They also accept stamps or donations for mailing packages. All cards and letters, must be unsealed envelopes to be reviewed for positivity.

The C’YA team encourages donations of Valentines, thank you cards, pictures or drawings, for local military members. Small handmade colorings from children are the goal, with many downloadable coloring pages available.

“We’ll also be available to collect donations for the Mikey Aslam Memorial Scholarship,” C’YA’s Bernadette Lauritzen said. “We will have submission requirements on hand for Los Alamos High School Class of 2023 seniors. If you know a senior who is a great human being, enjoys volunteer work, has a strong faith or has been involved in Scouting then this is for them.” The first Mikey Aslam scholarship, will benefit a member of the Class of 2023.

Small wooden Hug Hearts also will be available for purchase to asist the nonprofit with its many projects including;

  • Community Asset Awards;
  • Sci Guy and his work with science education in elementary schools; and
  • Mail to the troops.

The Hug Hearts come with a carrying case and small card to show someone you care just when they need it for just a small donation.
