County’s Bear Camp Vacates Ice Rink in Canyon for Remainder of Season

As a result of continued rainy weather conditions this week and the potential for flash flooding in Los Alamos Canyon, LAPD Emergency Management Coordinator Philmont Taylor has ordered the County’s Bear Camp program to vacate the Ice Rink in the canyon for the remainder of the summer camp season.

Atomic City Transit busses are transporting approximately 30-35 campers out of the canyon now. They will be shuttled safely back to the Aquatic Center’s training room.

Staff is contacting parents to let them know of the change and asking them to pick up their children at the Aquatic Center. Camp will continue for one more week at this alternate location at the Aquatic Center, which should be adequate because of the limited enrollment this time of year.
