County Council Proclaims May 2025 ‘Older Americans Month In Los Alamos’

Proclamation

WHEREAS, Los Alamos County includes a growing number of older Americans who contribute their time, wisdom, and experience to our community; and

WHEREAS, communities benefit when people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds have the opportunity to participate and live independently; and

WHEREAS, Los Alamos County recognizes the need to create a community that offers the services and support to older adults who may need to make choices about how they age; and

WHEREAS, Los Alamos County and the Los Alamos Retired and Seniors Organization can work to build an even better community for our older residents by creating opportunities for healthy aging through social engagement, physical well-being, civic involvement, creativity, and lifelong learning.

NOW, THEREFORE on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim May 2025 to be “Older Americans Month in Los Alamos” and urge every resident to celebrate our older citizens to create an inclusive society and accept the challenge of flexible thinking around aging.

FURTHERMORE, I encourage everyone to stop by the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center at 1101 Bathtub Row or the White Rock Senior Activity Center at 133 Longview Drive during the month of May to thank the senior center staff for recognizing, honoring and revering our older population for more than 25 years.
