County-Pajarito Astronomers Dark Night At Spirio Soccer Fields At Overlook Park Tonight!

Pajarito Astronomers News:

Los Alamos County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Divisions have partnered up with the Pajarito Astronomers for the Dark Night program.

Anyone with an interest in star gazing and the chance to look through a telescope is invited to come out to Spirio Soccer Fields tonight, July 15, at Overlook Park in White Rock.

Volunteers from the Pajarito Astronomers Club will be present with telescopes starting about 8:30 p.m.  until at least 11 p.m., and as late as midnight if there is continued interest.

Sunset is at 8:23 p.m., so it won’t be dark until about 9:20 p.m. However, a crescent Venus sets at 10 p.m. and will be visible before dark.

Red flashlights are recommended for safety.

This event is free and open to the public (no registration required) and will be held weather permitting. Please use caution and, if possible, use parking lights when approaching or leaving Spirio Fields when it is dark.

Hope to see you there!
