COUNTY News:
Twelve new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in front of the Los Alamos County Municipal Building are now fully operational and available for use following a two-month installation project.
The 12 stations are powered by six state-of-the-art Level 2 dual-port networked chargers. A fee of $0.23/kWh will apply for public use of the chargers, helping to offset the operational costs of the new infrastructure. Users will need to have or set up a ChargePoint account to use the chargers. More information and account setup is available at www.chargepoint.com.
With these new installations, the existing free EV charging stations will be removed beginning Wednesday, December 31. In preparation, the parking spaces closest to the free chargers will be barricaded from today through Friday, Jan. 12.
The installation project was a collaboration between the County Sustainability Office, Public Works and the Department of Public Utilities in support of Los Alamos County’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The work was completed by R&M Construction, LLC.
