COUNTY News:
The modular buildings used to house County employees temporarily since 2007 will soon be removed from the Lavy Lane lot on Trinity Drive.
The move could begin today. The modulars will be moved three at a time. Moves should occur in the early morning to avoid afternoon winds. No delays on Trinity Drive are expected. Modulars will also be moved for County employees that were housed on Central Ave – next to the Justice Center – following the move on Lavy Lane. No move will occur during Farmers Market operations. No delays to Central Avenue are expected.
Once all modulars have been removed, the County will restore the grounds at Lavy Lane and the parking lot at the Justice Center to their previous use and design. Infrastructure that was in place for the modulars will be removed and the parking lot on Central Avenue will be restriped with curbing. Once restored, this lot should assist with handling overflow parking for visitors shopping at the Farmers Market on Thursday mornings, once again opening up the Mesa Public Library lot for library patron parking. There will be no disturbance to the Demo Garden as part of the infrastructure removal and parking lot repairs.
Removal of the modulars and restoration of the grounds or parking lot are the final step in completing the move into the new Municipal Building located at 1000 Central Avenue. The grand opening and building dedication are set for Friday, June 28, with public tours of the new facility from 9-11 a.m. and building dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. The ceremony is hosted by the County Council, and refreshments will be served immediately afterwards.
