Staff Report

Los Alamos County Manager Steve Lynne announced his retirement plans to the County Council during tonight’s meeting.

In an email to staff, Lynne said, “I am going to keep this one brief, for now. As you will see from the details below, I have plenty of time to gather my thoughts and properly express all of my appreciation. For tonight, I just wanted to be sure to share the news with everyone and most importantly to say THANK YOU!!

“I am still enjoying my job as much as ever and that is how I want my exit to occur,” Lynne said. “Working at the County is fantastic because of the great people I get to work with – all of you! And note that I am still speaking in the present tense – I am not going anywhere just yet.”

Retirement plan:

  • County retirement date: July 31, 2024
  • Last day at work: March 1, 2024

This timing provides the County Council with 7 months’ notice to find a successor.

“While my retirement is now planned, I am still looking forward to the exciting things we will be tackling over the next 7 months,” Lynne said. “Once again, much thanks to everyone.”
