Council takes a break from meetings

No Council meetings for the next two weeks, but after that, get ready for Councilors to dive into budget hearings for three days (April 15 through 17, starting at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers).

Publication of the Proposed County Budget for FY14

By County Charter, the proposed budget for the next fiscal year must be published each year no later than March 31. Office of Management & Budget staff were busy this morning delivering copies to various departments. This weekend, you should be able to find a hard copy at the reference desk of either library – and the link to download it on line should be up on the OMB webpage very soon – check this link below next week for on line access:

Nice weather? Clean up and take advantage of our County-wide Spring Brush & Bulk Item Trash Collection!

This is one of our most popular services each Spring, as residents enjoy the warmer weather outside and do some heavy duty “spring cleaning”! We’re ready to help you out with FREE curbside pick-up of brush or other large items like broken appliances! If you live in Los Alamos with trash pick up  service that happens on Mondays or Tuesdays, get busy this weekend! You need to have your items curbside by this coming Monday, April 1. If your trash day in Los Alamos is a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, you have until Monday, April 8 to take your items to the curb. White Rock residents – you have have a little bit longer to clean up – collection dates for White Rock are either Monday, April 15 (if you have Friday trash service) or Monday, April 22 (if you have Tuesday trash service). In all cases, items need to be at the curb no later than 8 a.m. on your the collection assessment day noted above.  Please remember: items won’t be collected on the exact day you set them set out, due to the large area to be covered and serviced – so please be patient. …link to the Environmental Services webpage for more info on “what” you can take to the curb:

Eco Station CLOSED on Sunday

The Eco Station will be closed in observance of the Easter holiday on Sunday, March 31.

A Special 3D Exhibit at Mesa Library – Coming Soon!

We’re all excited to see this “Underground of Enchantment Traveling Exhibit: Lechuguilla Cave of Carlsbad Caverns National Park” from the Carlsbad Museum & Art Center, featuring some amazing 3D photos of one of the most interesting caves in the world! The opening reception is next Friday, April 5th at 4:00 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda of Mesa Public Library. The exhibit runs through May 29 – don’t miss it!
