LIBRARY News:
It’s a fiesta! Join Los Alamos County Libraries to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month starting Tuesday.
Observed annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 as a way to celebrate the heritage and culture of Hispanic and Latinx Americans, the libraries will celebrate with a week of bilingual programs for children.
This includes music and movement programs and storytimes in Spanish and English for children 0-6 and a special afterschool event for kids 6-12 with a story and activity in Spanish and English.
Programs will happen in White Rock and Los Alamos and there will be lots of great books to share.
(Latinx, pronounced Latin-EX, is the gender-neutral term for Latino/Latina. Library staff chose to use Latinx for their celebrations because it is welcoming to all people, including Brazilians who speak Portuguese not Spanish.)
