COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County preliminary design concepts for preventing vehicles from leaving Trinity Drive and entering Ashley Pond Park are now available for residents to provide feedback on now through Aug. 2.
The community is invited to review the designs and provide feedback on the County’s consultation page for this project.
Three design concepts were drafted with contractor Groundworks Studio to provide different options of protecting park-goers from the potential of vehicles intentionally or unintentionally leaving Trinity Drive, while also improving or complementing the aesthetic of the park.
Options:
- A design focused on the use of round concrete piers that provide a clean, functional look.;
- A design focused on adding large, raised planters to provide a formal garden look; and
- A design that blends the safety structure into the park through the use of large boulders with native, ground-level plantings around them.
In the meantime, concrete barriers have been re-installed along the corridor to provide a safety barrier during the busy summer season. To help blend the temporary barrier in better, the County painted the barriers and is soliciting anyone who’s interested to sign-up and paint a section, much like the Community Art Tunnel. The goal of this process is to bring community voices into the discussion at the various board review sessions. The County is aiming to have the new feature installed by mid-May of 2027.
