County Honors Los Alamos Family Council’s 60th Anniversary And Youth Activity Centers’ 40th Anniversary

COUNTY News:

The 60th anniversary of the Los Alamos Family Council and the 40th anniversary of the Youth Activity Centers were recognized during Tuesday night’s Los Alamos County Council meeting.

Councilor David Izraelevitz read the proclamation honoring both organization’s milestones:

WHEREAS, Los Alamos Family Council has provided counseling services to Los Alamos and the surrounding communities since November 1962; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Los Alamos Family Council is to promote emotional and social well-being through a variety of services; and

WHEREAS, this month also marks the 40th anniversary of the Los Alamos Youth Activity Centers, a county service run by the Los Alamos Family Council; and

WHEREAS, we wish to thank the Los Alamos Family Council for providing counseling services to support a healthy community and for operating the activity centers in Los Alamos and White Rock with staff that are helpful, energetic, and compassionate and who genuinely want to make a difference in the daily lives of the children visiting our facilities; and

WHEREAS, these free, supervised activities after school and throughout the summer offer a safe, drug-free, and loving atmosphere for children from third grade through eighth grade; and

WHEREAS, staff at the activity centers offer fun and creative ways for youth to develop character and self-discipline while building up risk resiliency through a variety of programming options and events.

NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do recognize the month of November 2022 as the

60th ANNIVERSARY OF THE LOS ALAMOS FAMILY COUNCIL AND THE  40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTERS

in Los Alamos County and applaud the efforts of the Los Alamos Family Council and their staff for assisting the community in providing all these services, especially to our youth.
