Quintana worked at the County for 27 years until killed on his way to work at Abiquiu Dam by a drunk driver.
Eleven years after that elk sculpture was erected, a memorial plaque was placed Thursday at the site to honor the memory of Quintana and fellow County employee Charlie Brown who was instrumental in getting the elk sculpture completed.
“I would like to acknowledge all the County workers that had a part in getting this project done,” Julian’s wife Sandra Quintana said. “Charlie Brown, Daryl Tabor, Darryl Hastings, Rick Herrera, Julian Bonnell, Joseph Montoya, Bryan Montoya, John Fesser, Wayne Witten, Harold Sanchez and Ted Jaramillo.”
