County: First Half Of Property Taxes Due Dec. 11

COUNTY News:

Property tax bills for 2023 will be mailed to property owners by Los Alamos County’s Finance Department by Nov. 1.

The deadline for the first half of property taxes is Dec. 10, but has been extended to Monday, Dec. 11 due to the weekend. It is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure property taxes are paid to avoid late payment penalty and interest charges.

If someone else is to pay on behalf of the property owner, they will need to contact them directly regarding this matter. If a property owner’s property taxes are collected through an escrow account, they should verify with the appropriate organization or person to ensure that the payment is made in a timely manner. Los Alamos County offers various methods to make it easy for payments to be made before the deadline.

These methods are as follows:

  • In person. Property owners can remit payment in person at the Customer Care Center in the lobby of the Municipal Building (1000 Central Ave.), or to a teller at Enterprise Bank & Trust walk-in or drive-thru windows in Los Alamos (1200 Trinity Dr.) or White Rock (77 Rover Blvd.), by 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11.
  • Dropbox. Property owners can drop a check or money order sealed in an envelope, in one of the two drop boxes conveniently located in the parking lot and lobby of the Municipal Building (1000 Central Ave.). Customer Care staff collects drop box payments each business day. To avoid penalties payments must be in the drop box by midnight, Monday, Dec. 11.
  • Mail. Payments can be mailed to Los Alamos County, P.O. Box 99, Los Alamos, NM 87544-0099, but must be postmarked by midnight, Monday, Dec. 11.
  • Online. The County Finance Department accepts tax payments online through  https://eNoticesOnline.com. Payments will need to be made by 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 to meet the processing deadline. Property owners will need the County Authorization Code available on the Oct. 27, 2023 tax bill to create an account. Instructions are available on the  E-Notices Online website at https://www.enoticesonline.com/.
In addition, the County Assessor’s website will be migrated to the new site on Friday, October 27. This will make the link to that site broken. Individuals will need to visit the home page of the new site at www.losalamosnm.us and search for “Assessor” to navigate to that page.

For information regarding the property tax owner, name change, address correction, valuation, and more, contact the County Assessor at 662.8030 or visit the County Assessor’s web page.

Questions related to tax payments may be directed to the Customer Care Center at 505.662.8333 or CustomerCare@lacnm.us, or to Zhengyan Liu, Financial & Budget Analyst in the Finance Department by email or call at zhengyan.liu@lacnm.us or 505.662.8076.
