During the County’s annual “Employee Thank You Luncheon” hosted by the County Council on Halloween at Fuller Lodge, employees dropped off cans of food and other non-perishable items as they entered the lodge for lunch. County employees came up with the idea of holding a food drive a few weeks ago when the federal government shut down. The decision was made to collect donations during the luncheon – hoping that on a day when they are all “treated” to a great lunch, it would be a good reminder that there are still those in the community who may not be as fortunate. Employees unable to attend the luncheon dropped off donations at the County’s Human Resources Office. The food drive was so successful that organizers have decided to make it part of each year’s luncheon, easily enabling employees to give back to the community in this special way. Donations were picked up by LA Cares Thursday afternoon to be added to the local food bank. Courtesy/LAC
