County Electric Crews Respond To Two Outages

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos utility customers on Circuit 13 experienced an outage early this morning after an overhead line failure. Circuit 13 includes the Western Area and neighborhoods aligning Trinity Drive from Diamond Drive to Timber Ridge Road.

The outage occurred shortly before 6 a.m. While restoration occurred around 7:15, a short, secondary outage was necessary to conduct the full repair.

The secondary outage affected customers along the Trinity Drive portion of the circuit between Diamond Drive and Timber Ridge. Full power was restored at 8:45 a.m. While initially thought to be caused by an animal, the outage appears to have been caused by a broken cross arm.

Meanwhile, a separate outage affected the ski hill when a truck ran into a power pole around 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Electric Distribution crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) left the ski hill power off overnight so the damage could be assessed and repaired safely during daylight hours.
