County: Cause Of Early Morning Outage Identified

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has announced that the cause of this morning’s power outage was caused by an overhead power line failure.

The failure knocked out power to Western Area, neighborhoods near Oppenheimer and Trinity, the Ice Rink and Pajariot Mountain Ski Hill.

Electric line workers from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) are repairing the power line and will try to restore electricity to Western Area shortly. Other Los Alamos customers may experience blinks of power during that time.

Most of the homes, condos and apartments near Oppenheimer and Trinity have already been restored with a few exceptions near Timber Ridge and Los Alamos Medical Center.

DPU indicates that it may be several hours before all customers have their electric power restored.
