County Animal Shelter News:

All cats are on sale – “two for the price of one” – at the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter, so if you can’t make up your mind, don’t worry, take them both home.

Most cats love having a playmate.

This week’s featured pet is a short-haired feline named Allie whose primary color is calico.

Allie, 10, is house-trained, declawed, spayed and up-to date with all her routine shots.

She was given up for adoption when her owner left for college.

Allie seems especially partial to women and older, gentle children, but no dogs, please.

Initially shy, she becomes friendly once she knows her human, and is responding well to attention from shelter volunteers but isn’t too pleased when other cats approach her.

The Friends of the Shelter is sponsoring a fundraiser breakfast 7-11 a.m. Sunday, April 1 at the Posse Lodge 650 North Mesa Road. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Shelter.

The Los Alamos Animal Shelter, 226 East Road, 662-8179, has a great selection of on-site adoptable pets just waiting for homes and others are off-campus in foster homes.

Visit the Friends of the Shelter website: www.lafos.org, where you can learn about volunteering, adopting and donating.
