County Seeking Applications For Art In Public Places Board

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County is now accepting applications from eligible candidates for appointment to one vacant seat on the Art in Public Places (APP) Board. The vacancy is a two-year term, expiring on March 24, 2028.

Interested Los Alamos County residents who do not hold public office and are not employed by the County may submit an online application by visiting the County’s Boards and Commissions webpage and selecting “apply”. Applications will be accepted until the vacancy is filled.

The APP Board integrates art into public spaces, promotes public awareness, and creates visually inspiring environments that reflect Los Alamos County’s history and culture. Through the APP fund, supported by 1% of capital improvement and road project budgets, the Board helps to acquire, install and maintain County-owned art, ensuring a lasting cultural legacy.

The County is seeking community members who are passionate about enhancing public spaces and shaping the artistic landscape of Los Alamos County.

APP Board members play an important role in:

  • Organizing calls for art and artists,
  • Gathering community input on public art projects,
  • Managing and preserving the County’s public art collection, and
  • Contributing creative ideas for future installations

Members meet on the fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building Boards and Commissions Room #110, 1000 Central Ave.

Once appointed by Council, members serve staggered two-year terms and may be eligible for up to two terms.

More information on the APP Board can be found on the County’s Boards and Commissions webpage or by contacting Chelsea Ashcraft at chelsea.ashcraft@losalamosnm.gov or by calling 505.662.8261.
