COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Community Services Department would like to thank the community of Los Alamos for making the inaugural 100 Days of Summer program a great success.

With more than 100 participants, the County was pleased with the level of excitement and involvement. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, residents were encouraged to “Get Out. Get Active,” throughout Los Alamos County and our three National Parks. As part of the program, a detailed program guide was published and available at multiple locations, along with bucket list and program cards.

The program consisted of two components. The first was to fill out a participation card as a fun way to track summer activities and “aha” moments. The second was a photo contest in which participants were asked to capture and share their “aha” moments as they were out and about this summer, then post them on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #100AHAMoments.

Los Alamos County posted a series of Friday Fan Favorites on their Facebook (Los Alamos County) and Instagram (@LOSALAMOSCOUNTY) pages each week throughout the summer.

The Sunset Event took place Sept. 8 at the final summer concert of the season, and winners were announced at the conclusion of the evening. Los Alamos resident Pat Dugan’s name was drawn as the program winner and received the Bistro, Brews & B&B Staycation package, worth more than $450. The photo contest winner also was announced. Los Alamos resident Sarah Matthews received a fun Picnic in the Parks Staycation package, worth more than $500.

The County is gearing up for a 100 Days of Winter program, which will kick off when the Ice Rink opens in mid-November. Keep an eye out for the program guide!
