Council Passes Open Meetings Resolution for 2013

COUNTY News:

At Tuesday night’s County Council meeting, the Council took action to pass a new Open Meetings Resolution, based on changes that came from actions made at the State level.

The updated resolution now includes a provision that requires a minimum of 72 hours notice for regular meetings, not only for Council, but for all Boards and Commissions as well.

This Resolution also complies with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act; specifically, it requires that information helpful to individuals with disabilities be included in the notice of public meetings.

Finally, note that the provision for changing an agenda that has been previously published within 36 hours of the meeting has also been removed by the State, and that change is thus reflected here in the Council’s resolution passed last night:
