Assistant to the County Manager Linda Matteson updates the Los Alamos County Council on the Tourism Strategic Plan project during the council’s work session Tuesday night.

Matteson reported that a public meeting to gather community input for the plan is 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the UNM-LA Student Center, in Building 2 on the upper level of the campus. There also will be an online survey for those unable to attend the meeting.

Additionally, she said a website has been created for the strategic plan, which is losalamostourismplan.com. A tourism work group was formed and a consultant was hired to develop this strategic plan.

Mattenson said they are looking at what the County is doing for tourism now and determining where its tourism industry should be five to 10 years down the road and the steps to get there. The goal is to present the final plan to council by the end of the year, Matteson said.
