NMHS News:
Spring has sprung at Kuaua Pueblo at Coronado Historic Site—learn the old New Mexico ways of planting a garden.
Coronado Historic Site’s Ranger Anthony will demonstrate different gardening techniques 10:30 a.m.- noon Wednesday, April 30. Each month he will focus on a different aspect of garden care and maintenance. This month he’ll show how to turn over soil using hand tools, then plant seeds and irrigate using sunken beds for flood irrigation. Bring water and wear comfortable clothes, a hat, and shoes you can get dirty. All topics are subject to change. Weather and garden growth are unpredictable, so check Facebook or Instagram for updates.
If you enjoy gardening, come learn the old ways of growing! This program teaches participants traditional and contemporary gardening techniques connected to the history of the site. Included with admission of $7 for adults and free to children 16 years and younger, NM residents 60 years and older with ID, people with Native/Tribal affiliations, disabled veterans, and foster families.
