SFNF News:

SANTA FE — Construction season is in full swing on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF). Four popular recreation sites on the Jemez Ranger District will be temporarily closed to conduct pavement preservation projects.

“Some recreation sites in the Jemez Ranger District have not undergone pavement maintenance since the 1990s,” Jemez District Ranger Jeremy Golston said. “The upcoming projects aim to ensure safe access for those who enjoy recreation in this area. We are working with construction crews and contractors to open these sites as quickly as possible and will keep the public informed of any delays.”

Recreation sites currently closed:

  • Vista Linda Campground;
  • Jemez Falls Campground;
  • Redondo Campground; and
  • Jemez Falls Picnic Area.

Recreation sites remaining open:

  • San Antonio Campground;
  • Paliza Family Campground – Only OPEN Friday to Sunday;
  • Paliza Group Campground;
  • Battleship Rock Picnic Area; and
  • Spanish Queen Picnic Area.

To learn more about these projects and for current construction status, contact the Jemez Ranger District Office at 575.829.3535 or visit the Santa Fe National Forest website.
