COUNTY News:

The Public Works/Traffic Division provides the latest updates on the following project:

San Ildefonso Road/North Mesa Area – Crack Sealing

Traffic and Streets Division crews will continue a pavement preservation project on North Mesa. Crews will be crack sealing on San Ildefonso Road from the roundabout to Sioux Street.

Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work is anticipated to be completed in early April, weather permitting.

A flagging operation will be used to move vehicles safely through the work zone. Vehicle traffic is urged to slow down and obey all traffic control devices.

Other road construction projects:

N.M. 502 Roundabout and Road Reconstruction (NMDOT project)

The New Mexico Department of Transportation and Star Paving Contractors are resuming road work on N.M. 502 in Los Alamos between Knecht Street and Tewa Loop. Work should be complete in the winter of 2020.

The $10.8 million project will improve a nearly one mile stretch of NM-502 and reconstruct the existing intersection at Central Avenue with a roundabout to improve traffic flow.

The project will include roadway reconstruction, earthwork, curb and gutter, ADA compliant sidewalks, concrete retaining walls, storm drains, landscaping, permanent signing, lighting, traffic signalizations and utilities.

Existing detours will remain in effect. Drivers can expect minor delays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Temporary closures may take place during non-peak hours.
