For more information about the projects listed below, please e-mail, call 505.662.8150, or visit the “Projects” link at Please slow down and use caution within the construction work zones.

Central Avenue Improvements Project:

Starting Monday, June 30, the contractor will begin mobilizing for construction.

Expect Central Avenue to be fully closed between 15th Street and 20th Street for night work between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Starting on Tuesday during the daytime, Central Avenue between 15th and 20th will consist of one lane of westbound traffic. Eastbound Central traffic will be detoured to 20th Street, to Trinity, and back to eastbound Central at 15th Street.

Pedestrian access will be on the north side of Central. On-street parking on Central will be closed, please use alternate parking in the area.

The contractor plans on working a day and night crew in an effort to complete this section of the project within the first 60 days of the construction. When possible, please use alternate business entrances including those along Deacon, 15th Street, and 20th Street.

NM502 / Trinity Storm Drain Improvements:

The northern lanes of Trinity Drive remain closed, resulting in one-way eastbound traffic on Trinity and a westbound detour to Central Avenue. Please Note: expect intermittent closures of business driveways on the north side of Trinity to allow for road bed preparation and paving operations. When closed, please access businesses between Del Norte Credit Union and the Hilltop House Hotel site from Knecht or Central.

Eastbound: One travel lane of eastbound NM502 / Trinity Drive traffic will be maintained; travelers will be able to access DP Road and continue eastbound on NM502.

Westbound: Traffic will be detoured to Central Avenue, then to 15th, and back to Trinity Drive. Westbound traffic may access DP Road by following the Trinity detour and turning left (east) at 15th and Trinity.

Late next week, the north Knecht intersection at Trinity will be closed to install the storm drain across Knecht. Once this closure occurs, north Knecht at Trinity will be closed for up to two weeks. Knecht south of Trinity will remain open. This will be the final phase of the project. The contractor will not working on July 4.

The established westbound detour is purposely routed through the signalized intersections at Central and 15th, and at 15th and Trinity to allow for the most efficient traffic flow. Please use extreme caution, watch for pedestrians, and slow down as you move through the detour area.

he Central Avenue access to the Municipal Building will remain closed; please use the Municipal Building driveways off Iris Street.

Western Area Improvements Phase 2:

45th Street off Trinity remains closed to through traffic; on 46th off Trinity the contractor continues trenching for utility crossings, expect intermittent delays. Concrete work continues on the sidewalks within the Western Area Park. Access to residences as well as services such as mail delivery, emergency services, trash and recycling collection will be maintained.

Sound Wall between Tewa Loop and Airport Road:

Work starts on June 30. Expect shoulder work on the south side of East Drive; please find alternate parking for vehicles parked on the south side of East Drive.

Non-County Projects of Significance:

Smith’s Marketplace construction continues through opening day on July 16, 2014. Expect significant truck traffic and potential delays on NM502 and Trinity Drive.
