Public Works Projects:

Please slow down and use caution within the construction work zones. Note the below information is based on a schedule provided by the contractors and may change due to weather or other delays.
Sherwood Blvd. Roadway and Drainage Improvements
Sherwood Blvd. will be closed to through traffic at the intersection of Aztec Ave.
Crews with Star Paving Company will continue road and drainage improvements on Sherwood Blvd. between Piedra Lp. and Aztec Ave.
Residents on Sherwood Blvd. will be required to enter and exit Sherwood Blvd. via Grand Canyon Dr. This closure is necessary to facilitate installation of a new storm drainpipe. Sidewalks will be closed and barricaded to pedestrians while crews remove and replace sections of sidewalk.
Traffic devices and detour signs are in place to help motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians navigate around the work zone. Pedestrians may utilize Atomic City Transit while sidewalk closures are in place. Vehicular access is limited to those who reside in the immediate work area and to mail delivery, emergency services, trash and recycling collection. For safety of the traveling public, residents are asked not to remove or relocate traffic control devices, signs, and barricades. Area residents who may have special access needs are asked to contact the Public Works Department.
Closure of Sherwood Blvd. from Grand Canyon Dr. to Aztec Ave. for this first phase of work is scheduled through the end of June, while closure for the next phase of roadwork from Piedra Lp. to Grand Canyon Dr. is scheduled for June to July 2022.
Bixby Electric is working at Piedra Lp. and Sherwood Blvd. installing a new streetlight at the intersection. Work schedules are subject to change pending weather conditions and any material shipping delays. Work Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Canyon Rim Trail Partial Closure due to Construction Activities
Contractors for Qualcon Builders (Canyon Walk Apartments) will be placing rock along the southside of the Canyon Rim Trail between DP Rd. and the DP Canyon Bridge between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday, Apr. 25 through Friday, Apr. 29. During this activity, the southside of the trail will be closed intermittently when the rock is being placed by a small piece of equipment. Contractor employees (flaggers) will be on site to direct trail users safely through the work area during these times. Trail users are asked to use caution and follow the direction of the flaggers during this work.
Leisure Lagoon
The sidewalk along Canyon Rd. – across from the United Church parking lot remains closed to the Canyon/Central intersection. Pedestrians and bicyclists can still use the bike lane. The closure is anticipated to last one more week.
Traffic & Streets Projects:

Countywide Striping
Crews will continue striping roads in White Rock and Los Alamos. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic are urged to maintain a safe distance from the striping equipment to prevent getting sprayed with paint.
Manhole adjustment on Entrada Dr. and Camino Entrada
Crews will be adjusting a few manholes on Entrada Dr. near the Los Alamos Co-op and on Camino Entrada near the entrance to Entrada Dr. starting Monday, April 25 through April 26. The work area will be protected with cones and have temporary flagging operations as needed.
Sidewalk repairs on Bryce Ave.
Crews will be replacing sections of sidewalk in White rock on Bryce Ave., from Aragon Ave. to Meadow Ln. in various locations. Work will start Tuesday, April 26, and end April 28. Crews will detour pedestrian traffic as needed. Watch for and follow all traffic control signs and devices.

The projects listed in this section are being managed by other County staff outside of Public Works. Please slow down and use caution within the construction work zones.
The Annual Dog Jog at Rover Park
The Annual Dog Jog at Rover Park will be occurring from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30. The participants will begin at Rover Park and will run west on Rover Blvd. to Grand Canyon Dr., then head east on Grand Canyon Dr. to Meadow Ln. and south to Rover Blvd., before heading back to Rover Park. Participants will be running on the sidewalk with crossing guards at all intersections to direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic for safety purposes.
