N.M. 4 Improvements Project
Motorists can expect a relatively open roadway this week with temporary tabs marking driving lanes.
Permanent striping and roadway markings will be placed in approximately two weeks, allowing the latest pavement application adequate time to cure.
As the contractor works to finish up any remaining median or shoulder work, intermittent lane closures can be expected.
The speed limit within the construction area is 30 mph. Please drive defensively and watch for construction vehicles.
Pavement Preservation Program
Crews will be working to finish Connie Avenue early next week, then moving to Garver, Donna and then Kilby.
Flyers will be distributed 48 hours in advance of work beginning in the immediate area. Once construction gets to your area, please ensure that all vehicles are parked off-street.
Expect flagging operations, minor delays, and typical construction activity.
Other White Rock streets included in this year’s program include Canada Way, Barcelona, Rover from Carlsbad to Grand Canyon, Aragon west of Rover, Azure, and possibly Shirlane.
In Los Alamos – Range Road and North Mesa Road from Hawk Drive to just east of the Posse Lodge.
If you live on any of these streets, please watch for your 48-hour notice.
Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving & Utility Project – Phase 1
Canyon Road between East Road (N.M. 502) and the Myrtle Green continues to be closed to through traffic.
Residential access to this area will be maintained; however, residents who park on Canyon Road are asked to park off-street or on a nearby side street.
Residents can expect flagging operations on Canyon Rd during the day time, and two-way traffic at night. Minor delays may be experienced.
Pedestrians must use the provided pedestrian detours. All through traffic must seek alternate routes.
RMCI continues to work on 15th Street, requiring the closure of 15th Street between Trinity and Deacon, as well as reducing traffic between Deacon and Central to two lanes of traffic.
Pedestrians will be detoured around the construction area. Access to area businesses will be maintained.
The 15th Street detour will be Knecht Street; other alternatives motorists may want to consider are 20th Street or Oppenheimer.
Flagging operations on 15th near Deacon Street will continue as needed in order to allow equipment to access the work area.
The work on 15th Street is expected to be complete on or before July 28.
4th Street between Central Avenue and Canyon Road continues to be closed to through traffic. Residential access will be maintained.
