Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving & Utility Project – Phase 1
Canyon Rd between East Road (NM502) and the Myrtle Green continues to be closed to through traffic.
Residential access to this area will be maintained; however, residents who park on Canyon Road are asked to park off-street or on a nearby side street.
Residents can expect flagging operations on Canyon Rd during the day time, and two-way traffic at night. Minor delays may be experienced.
Pedestrians must use the provided pedestrian detours. All through traffic must seek alternate routes.
RMCI is also working on 15th Street, requiring the closure of 15th Street between Trinity and Deacon, as well as reducing traffic between Deacon and Central to two lanes of traffic to allow for work on the west side of 15th Street. Pedestrians will be detoured around the construction area.
Access to area businesses will be maintained.
4th Street between Central and Canyon continues to be closed to through traffic. Residential access will be maintained.
Night work on Central Avenue, associated with the new Municipal Building, between 15th Street and 9th Street continues requiring the full closure of this section of Central. Closure will be effective between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings through 6 a.m. Friday.
This work also closes Knecht Street to through traffic at Central Avenue (access to the banks will be maintained.)
This night work will require rotating day time and night time detours.
Day time Detour (6 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. seven days a week until work on 15th Street is complete): The 15th Street detour will be Knecht Street; other alternatives motorists may want to consider are 20th Street or Oppenheimer.
Night time Detour (6 p.m. – 6 a.m.; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights): The 15th Street detour will be 20th Street as Knecht will be closed to through traffic at Central Avenue; another alternative motorists may want to consider is Oppenheimer.
Detour signs will be posted; however, please use caution as switching the traffic control between day and night set ups may cause some confusion during the switch.
The night work on Central is expected to be complete on or before June 27.
The work on 15th Street is expected to be complete on or before July 28.
NM4 Improvements Project
Traffic continues to be on the south side of NM4 between Rover Blvd and Grand Canyon/Pajarito Road. Speed limit within the construction area is 30 mph.
Expect modifications to the work zone as the contractor progresses from intersection to intersection. Please drive defensively and watch for construction vehicles.
East Park Parking Lot Paving
County Pavement crews continue to work on paving the East Park parking lot this week.
Paving activities will require the park and parking lot to be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily through Wednesday, June 20.
The East Park pavilion cannot be reserved for events on weekdays, but will be available for use on the weekends.
Temporary access will be provided to the dog park and La Mesa Trail from the Sombrillo parking lot. Park and trail users are asked to use caution in the area during paving operations.
