LAPS News:
White Rock students will start the new school year in new schools in August as construction of both the new Pinon Elementary and Chamisa Elementary schools is slated for completion this summer.
“It’s an exciting milestone for Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS),” Superintendent Jennifer Guy said. “A huge thank you to the community for their support of our schools.”
LAPS is offering the community an opportunity to say farewell to the current school sites.
Chamisa Elementary invites the community and alumni to enjoy a school tour, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, of the old school building before it is torn down.
In addition, the Chamisa PTO is hosting a yard sale that same day. All donations will support Chamisa PTO. There will be a free items table, and a bake sale.
Friday, May 30, Piñon Elementary School invites all former students, staff, families and friends to join 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a final walk through the buildings. Other activities include a memory wall, a chance to write a goodbye message on the walls, and photo opportunities.
“Let’s honor the history, share stories and celebrate the students, staff and families who made these schools cornerstones of the White Rock community.”
