UNM-LA News:
UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) and the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce are hosting a free job fair 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 in the Student Center in Building 2 on the UNM-LA campus.
The job fair features approximately 25 area employers looking to fill current and future positions in their workforce or offering information about internship positions.
UNM-LA students, local high school students, and the greater northern New Mexico community are all invited to attend this event. The UNM-LA Job Fair will be useful to anyone who might be seeking a job, considering a career change, or just interested in exploring opportunities from area businesses.
Burgandy Brock attended the UNM-LA job fair last year.
“I was ready to make a change, to move ahead in my career,” she said.
Brock met Ryn Herrmann who was representing the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce and the Los Alamos Community Development Corporation. Herrmann told Brock about a position at projectY; Brock applied for the position and now serves as the Community & Marketing Manager for projectY cowork Los Alamos.
“This has made a huge difference in my life. The job offers professional challenge that is really energizing,” Brock said.
UNM-LA Student Success Specialist Grace Willerton has been organizing the job fair for the past six years. She said she enjoys helping job-seekers and employees connect.
Willerton advises, “Dress professionally and bring several copies of your resume. Remember the importance of first impressions. This might be as important as an interview.”
