Community Invited To Public Meeting To Discuss Atomic City Transit Plan Thursday Oct. 6

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Transportation Board is hosting a public zoom meeting in conjunction with the monthly board meeting 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 to discuss the Atomic City Transit (ATC) Plan.

The Plan includes potential improvements to the transit system over the next five years. Los Alamos County has retained LSC Transportation Consultants, Inc., to prepare a 2022 Short-Range Transit Plan for ACT that will span the next five years. Staff is seeking community input regarding the study which provides an opportunity to develop a plan that will tailor transit services to current and near-term future conditions in the study area.

Transit Division Manager Annette Granillo mentioned the overall study affords staff and the residents of Los Alamos County the chance to take an in-depth look at the transit system in place, identify the optimal manner in which transit can meet the public’s needs within Los Alamos County, and carefully identify where transit resources should be devoted over the plan period.

In the end, the study will provide a “business plan” based on public input, which can guide the regional transit program to best meet mobility needs utilizing available resources,” Granillo said.
