Community Day At Fort Selden Historic Site June 25

NMDCA News:

Join Fort Selden Historic Site for a Community Day! A part of the celebration at the site will be Building with Dirt, a talk with Ranger Flo about the traditional art of making adobe bricks.

Admission will be free for residents of Radium Springs, but all are welcome to participate.

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 25; Building with Dirt starts at 11 a.m.

WHERE: 1280 Fort Selden Road, Radium Springs

WHY: Fort Selden Historic Site wants to show appreciation for the local community, invite them to meet staff and walk the site, learn to make adobe, and explore opportunities to volunteer at the fort. Building with Dirt will also dig into how Fort Selden was built, how long adobe has been used in New Mexico, and how the site works to preserve the ruins today. There will also be a new display area where visitors can contribute their Fort Selden story to the site’s collection of information about the fort.
