Closures Scheduled For Rover & N.M. 4 In White Rock

COUNTY News:

Drivers in White Rock will see two scheduled road closures over the next two weekends for work under the N.M. 4 Water Transmission Line Replacement/Fiber Conduit Installation Project, managed by the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU).

Both closures are scheduled 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday. All businesses in the area will remain accessible.

Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30:

Rover Boulevard will be closed at the N.M. 4 intersection for the whole weekend. Drivers who need to turn onto N.M. 4 may follow detour signs to enter from Sherwood Boulevard instead of Rover. Drivers on N.M. 4 will similarly be detoured down Sherwood if they would have otherwise entered White Rock on Rover.

DPU’s contractor, Wagner Construction Inc., will be placing the transmission waterline across Rover Boulevard.

On Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6:

A short section of N.M. 4 will be closed in both directions immediately west of Rover. Westbound drivers who would be going straight will instead be detoured down Rover Boulevard to Grand Canyon Drive, to Sherwood Boulevard and then back onto N.M. 4. Eastbound drivers may follow traffic signs directing them to follow the same pattern in reverse. Wagner Construction will be trenching across N.M. 4 to move the waterline to the north side of N.M. 4.

This project’s purpose is to reconstruct the water transmission line feeding White Rock outside of the N.M. 4 roadway. Additionally, San Ildefonso Pueblo has partnered with DPU to install fiber optic conduit within the same trench as the water transmission line in support of plans for future fiber to the Pueblo. The fiber portion is a separate San Ildefonso project and San Ildefonso Pueblo is responsible for those expenses. Combining forces now, though, prevents a second trenching along the road later.
