Join the fun and volunteer at Pajarito Mountain with PEEC, REI, the Volunteer Task Force, YES Corps, and the ski patrol to plant trees and restore the mountain. Volunteers will be treated to an end-of-the-day barbecue on the lodge deck.

Frijoles Canyon Devastation and Recovery Interpretive Hike 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept 16
Chick Keller will lead a “Frijoles Canyon Devastation and Recovery Interpretive Hike” Sunday, Sept. 16. The hike is free and open to the public, with no registration required. Participants should meet at 8 a.m. at Ponderosa Campground, near the intersection of N.M. 501 and N.M. 4. 

Bill Gilbert: Physiocartographies @ Mesa Public Library Art Gallery (through Sept. 27)
Started in 2003 in the field with the Land Arts of the American West mobile studio, the physiocartographies series combines the abstraction of cartographic maps with the physical act of walking the surface of the planet to create portraits of place. Gilbert follows prescribed paths across the landscape using a GPS unit to navigate and record points, a camera to shoot images and a  digital recorder to capture sounds. The final works appear as reconstructed maps, videos and installations

Join the artist for a reception and gallery walk through 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 15.
Gilbert will also give a presentation on his work followed by a discussion with LANL Visualization team members and others 1-2:30 p.m. at Bradbury Science Museum.
