The LAHS Hilltalkers invite you to their all-you-can-eat Waffle Breakfast.This community event raises funds for the High School and Middle School Speech and Debate Teams to attend tournaments and compete around the state and beyond. Tickets are $6 each and can be purchased at the door. Children under 6 eat free. The breakfast features scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, and waffles with whipped cream and blueberry and cherry toppings. Coffee, tea, and juice will be served.

Migratory Bird Day Saturday, May 11 at Bandelier
The Bandelier Park Biologist, Steve Fettig, will be organizing a county-wide bird count in the park and other parts of Los Alamos County; contact him at 505-672-3861 x706 for participation details. No additional fee.
Bandelier Archaeology Tour of Burnt Mesa 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday May 11 at Burnt Mesa Parking Lot
The park archaeologist leads a four-mile hike to several 800-year-old Ancestral Puebloan sites and farming areas, plus a visit to multiple eagle traps on the rim of Frijoles Canyon. Bring water, hat and good hiking shoes. Meet at Burnt Mesa parking lot, N.M. 4, four miles west of the monument entrance.
Pajarito Mountain to Valle Canyon Hike 9 a.m. Saturday, May 11
Have you gazed out over the Valle Grande after taking a ride up the ski lift? Well, here’s your chance to hike it! Local avid hiker Paul Arendt will lead a group to the top of Pajarito Mountain and then proceed south to Valle Canyon. Hikers will meet at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Valle Canyon and West Jemez Road (Route 501.) Car pools will then proceed from the meeting area to the Pajarito Ski Area Parking Lot and hike up Pajarito Mountain and on to Valle Canyon. After a lunch break in Valle Canyon, the group will proceed down the canyon to the parked cars along Rt. 501 to car pool back up to the Ski Area lot. This will be a moderately difficult hike with an elevation gain of 1,300 ft and a descent of 2,500 ft. Total hiking time will be approximately 4 to 5 hours. As the route is near the boundary of the Valles Caldera, dogs will not be allowed on the hike. Free. No registration required.
