Stones in His Pockets 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 at Los Alamos Little Theater (1670 Nectar Street)
Show will run for three weekends at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are available at CB Fox or at the door, $12 general admission or $10 for seniors and students. Parents are cautioned that the play contains strong language and adult situations and may not be appropriate for children under 17.
CROP Hunger Walk Meeting & Video
The regional CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Hunger Walk director and local CROP Hunger Walk/Turkey Trot committee will be holding a CROP meeting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 at Graves Hall in the United Church. The video and discussion afterwards should finish by 8 p.m. Films shown will be two short PBS Visionaries documentaries. The first one relates most closely to the CROP Hunger Walk. The second focuses on the refugee resettlement effort. Part 1 – Honduras (duration = 27:35) – features the CWS food security programs in Honduras and the nation’s largest CROP Hunger Walk in Charlotte, NC. Part 2 – Kenya (duration = 27:32) – features the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, the CWS Resettlement Support Center in Nairobi, and the CWS refugee resettlement site in Richmond, VA. The new literary series with Los Alamos’ own noteworthy authors: a new, quarterly series with two memoirists, Stephanie Sydoriak and Karen Boutilier Kendall. The format for the series is informal with discussion between the authors about their writing experiences, processes, genres, and publishing their work, followed by ample time for audience questions, book signing, and refreshments.
