Joe Hayes: New Mexico’s Centennial Storyteller
7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26 at Fuller Lodge

While Joe Hayes, an official Centennial author, doesn’t have a specific centennial program, he will tell a selection of favorite stories gleaned from New Mexico’s diverse cultures. He has been traveling the state with his stories for more than 30 0f the 100 years of statehood, so he promises to share stories that people seem to have especially enjoyed. Among his most popular titles, in both Spanish and English, is The Day it Snowed Tortillas. The event will take place outdoors at Fuller Lodge lawn, weather permitting, or inside if not. Families are encouraged to come and enjoy a picnic along with some great tall tales!

Summer Family Evenings: Sea Otters
Tuesday, July 31 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at PEEC (3540 Orange Street)

Veteran marine mammal rehabilitator Esta Lee Albright will give an interactive presentation about her work as a rehabilitator of orphaned sea otters. She will share fascinating facts and insights gained from her 14 years of working at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and have many pictures of these adorable pups. This presentation is designed for families and kids ages 5 and up. Free to member families, $5 for non-member families. 6:30-8 p.m. No registration required.

BIKE & HIKE THIS WEEKEND – SATURDAY JULY 28
Enjoy lift served biking and hiking from 9 to 3pm. The lightning damage to the lift has been repaired and is now running great.

FIRST SUMMER BEER & BAND EVENT – THIS WEEKEND
Make plans to join this Sat 7/28. Marble Brewery will serve your favorite beers from 2-5pm. The Surf Lords will play on the deck from 3-5pm.  The cafe will be open extended hours to serve your appetite as well as the outside grill. Can’t wait to see you up here.

SKI AREA CAFE  – WILL BE CLOSED ON AUGUST 2 & 3
Please note that the cafe will be closed on Aug 2 & 3 for a private event.  We will be open our regular hours leading up to that date as well as after that date. Normal hours of operation  are 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday. Remember that the lodge is available for rent for weddings, parties, etc. Take advantage of our FREE WIFI for a business lunch.

MOUNTAIN STATUS
The rain this week is always welcome.  The erosion has been minimal. As previously mentioned the lightning damage to the electrical on Chair #4 is repaired. The lift is running great.
