I was contacted this morning by a volunteer with the Friends of the Shelter who expressed deep hurt at a recent story published in the Los Alamos Daily Post about the organization severing ties with the local animal shelter.

She felt the headline with the word “raid” misrepresented the actions of the volunteers and that the organization’s long history of caring for animals has been diminished.

I take full responsibility for that headline and apologize to the volunteers of this organization. These volunteers have done an invaluable service in caring for the animals of this community for many, many years and deserve to be commended for their efforts.
