SANTA FE — The Lensic presents the Golden Dragon Acrobats in a family-friendly show of grace, power, and beauty 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Lensic Performing Arts Center, 211 W. San Francisco St. in Santa Fe.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats delight audiences with their breathtaking skill and beauty, award-winning acrobatics, spectacular costumes, and unforgettable music. Members of the troupe are athletes, actors, and artists who have studied and trained for their craft since early childhood. Based in Cangzhou, Hebei province, in the People’s Republic of China, the Golden Dragons represent the best of ­­­a time-honored art form that began more than 25 centuries ago.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats are led by director Danny Chang, one of the world’s leader promoters of Chinese acrobatics. He began his training as a boy at his family’s acrobatic school in Taipei and joined its touring wing, the Golden Dragon Acrobats, at age 10. He has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Medal for International Faith and Goodwill from China’s Coordination Council for North American Affairs.
