ALBUQUERQUE — Officials with the New Mexico State Fair announced that Chevron, one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, has recommitted their support of the State Fair by signing a new multi-year presenting sponsorship agreement. As the premier sponsor for the event since 2022, the new agreement with Chevron secures the partnership for another three years – through the end of the 2027 State Fair.
“Chevron is a tremendous partner to the New Mexico State Fair, with a complementary mission to provide an excellent product that improves the lives of New Mexicans,” said Dan Mourning, General Manager of the New Mexico State Fair. “The continuation of our relationship demonstrates a long-term commitment to working together to support and celebrate our state’s unique culture, natural resources, and industry sectors. There really is no better place to do that than in the heart of New Mexico at our beloved State Fair.”
“Chevron has been a leading energy producer in New Mexico and the Permian Basin through our legacy companies since the early 1920s. Our involvement in the New Mexico State Fair highlights our long-standing partnership with the community and our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Scott Neal, General Manager of New Mexico and Texas Asset Development for Chevron. “As the presenting sponsor of the New Mexico State Fair, Chevron is pleased to continue celebrating the state’s rich history and vibrant cultural heritage.”
Chevron will once again have sole presenting rights for the New Mexico State Fair and serve as the official sponsor of the Chevron Pavilion Stage at EXPO New Mexico. They will maintain a visible presence throughout the grounds during the 11-day event to highlight Chevron’s New Mexico activities and efforts to grow its lower carbon businesses. In addition to the mutual benefits built into the previous three-year contract with Chevron, the new agreement has been expanded to include sponsorship of the Chevron Rodeo at the State Fair – an exciting development in the evolving relationship between Chevron and the State Fair.
Chevron holds one of the largest net oil and natural gas acreage positions in the Permian Basin, which includes Eddy and Lea Counties in southeast New Mexico, with a proud history as a state and community partner. Last summer, Chevron donated $100,000 to support relief and recovery for businesses and individuals impacted in the aftermath of the Southfork and Salt Fires in Ruidoso and Mescalero. In recent years, the New Mexico State Land Office and Chevron forged a partnership for the development of the Hayhurst solar project in Eddy County, which includes approximately 55,000 solar panels and generates 20 megawatts of power to help serve the company’s electrical needs in the Permian Basin. Additionally, Chevron is engaged in mine remediation and economic development activities in Questa in Taos County, where the company also maintains a solar facility that supplies clean power to customers of Kit Carson Electric Cooperative.
“We’re excited to participate in another multi-year sponsorship with Chevron, which further strengthens the New Mexico State Fair’s status as one of the top fairs in the country,” Mourning added. “As a respected leader in New Mexico’s energy industry, Chevron remains a forward-thinking partner, and we appreciate their commitment to supporting our state and our much beloved community event.”
The 2025 New Mexico State Fair kicks off Sept. 4 and runs through Sept. 14 at EXPO New Mexico. For tickets and more information about the New Mexico State Fair, visit statefair.ExpoNM.com.
