SUMMER CONCERT News:

The 2019 Los Alamos Summer Concert Series welcomes Season 15 Winner of NBC’s ‘The Voice’, Chevel Shepherd, for the biggest show of the summer.

Shepherd consistently impresses people with her powerful voice given her age and petite stature. She was raised on country music and the outdoors – often doing crafts, feeding the animals and fixing up cars with her dad.

Since Shepherd was 8 years old, she started singing on the radio around Florida, Colorado and Farmington. Every Friday morning her dad and mom would drive her to the radio station before school and she would sing live. As Shepherd got older she sang everywhere there was an opportunity.

The Chevel Shepherd Concert is sponsored by Los Alamos MainStreet in celebration of 2019 Los Alamos ScienceFest.

Eryn Bent will open for Shepherd Friday. Singer-songwriter Bent has been enchanting audiences since age 14, with her powerhouse vocals and honest, gritty songwriting. Born and raised in Montana, Bent has deep western roots that shine through her Americana, folk-style songwriting. She sings for you, and you’ll feel it in your bones.  Her first studio album “Firefly”, released in May 2014, is a 2015 New Mexico Music Award Winner, with four nominations including “Best of the Year”.

The Youth Performance for the Chevel Shepherd Concert features Gabriella Salazar, a 14-year-old native Taoseña. Salazar’s strong passion for music started at the age of 8 when she joined her school’s Mariachi program and began playing guitar and singing in Spanish. Salazar’s driven by her love for New Mexico and her Hispanic culture.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chevel Shepherd for her debut performance in Los Alamos,” Sancre Productions spokeswoman Monica Griego said. “It’s going to be an enchanting night of New Mexico’s premiere female singers and songwriters.”

As its eighth concert in the Series, the Sancre Productions team is working in tandem with various Los Alamos County Departments to ensure public safety, ADA accommodations, free parking and shuttle services and a diverse offering of Food Truck Vendors.

The Youth Performance by Salazar starts at 6 p.m., Bent will perform at 6:30 p.m. and Chevel Shepherd will perform at 8 p.m. The New Mexico Craft Distillery Garden will offer craft cocktails and beer from Rolling Still Distillery Bros., Bathtub Row Brewing Co-Op., and Santa Fe Brewing Company.
